Golden Memories at Windermere Hotel
Golden Memories for Mona and Jim Jack from Thornhill when they took a trip back in time to when they visited The Windermere Hotel, where they spent their honeymoon after getting married on 23rd March 1963. The couple from Queensberry Beaches, even took their original receipt.
The hotel staff were so delighted by their arrival they showered the couple with gifts. Mona who is 79 said: “We had the original receipt, the hotel staff were thrilled to see it. The hotel gave us a beautiful bouquet of flowers, a tray of fruit, box of chocolates and a bottle of champagne. It was a lovely surprise. The cost for the two of us at the honeymoon was £30.9 shillings, this was full board for seven days and included 15 pence per night for garaging the car”.
